Fontainebleau Las Vegas Casino Unveiled After 16-Year Journey and $3.7 Billion Investment
A major turning point in the history of the city's casino industry is reached with the grand opening of Fontainebleau Las Vegas, which has been in the works for 16 years. Featuring 3,644 rooms, a large casino, and multiple entertainment venues, the 67-story, $3.7 billion resort features performances by Justin Timberlake and Keith Urban. A glorious complement to the famous Las Vegas Strip.
A Star-Studded Grand Opening Celebration at Fontainebleau Las Vegas
The Las Vegas casino resort Fontainebleau is finally open for business. Although the project has been underway since 2007, plans were seriously disrupted by the pandemic and the Great Recession.
On Wednesday, the public had access to this property just before midnight. Justin Timberlake and Keith Urban gave performances at a celebration to mark the occasion. Among the other celebrities were veteran actor Sylvester Stallone and NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
Mark Tricano, the president of Fontainebleau, expressed his happiness at the looks on guests' faces on their first visit. He believes that the thought that went into designing the public spaces will produce a unique visitor experience.
The Tallest Building in Nevada and the Ultimate Entertainment Destination is Fontainebleau
The Fontainebleau is currently Nevada's tallest occupied building, standing at 735 feet and 67 stories. The STRAT Hotel is still the highest structure in the state, with an observation tower reaching a height of 1,149 feet.
With 3,644 hotel rooms, a 150,000-square-foot casino, seven pools, a spa, and 36 bars and restaurants combined, the recently opened Strip property has something to offer everyone. Not far away is the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is located close to the Strip's northernmost point.
Developers built the Fontainebleau on the site of the El Rancho hotel, which was demolished in 2000. It is reported that over 7,000 people will be employed by the new resort.
The Fontainebleau has been accepting reservations for a number of months. A room on opening night went for $300.
This is the first big new casino resort to open in Las Vegas since Resorts World opened in June 2021, when the city was still recovering from the pandemic.
The Renaissance of Fontainebleau: From Bankruptcy to the Founder's Resurgence in 2021
The groundbreaking ceremony for Fontainebleau took place in 2007 after the development plans were first made public in 2005. The company behind the project filed for bankruptcy in 2009, when it was about 70% completed, which led to many years of dormancy.
In February 2021, Fontainebleau Resorts founder Jeffrey Soffer took back the reins.
Over the years, there have been several ownership changes for the project. The project came full circle in February 2021 when Jeffrey Soffer, the founder of Fontainebleau Resorts, reclaimed ownership in association with Koch Real Estate Investments.
The luxurious Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach has been in operation since 1954 and is owned by Soffer's company.
